A recent Wall Street Journal Online/Harris Interactive Personal Finance Poll reveals that while relatively few U.S. adults say they have fallen victim to Identity Theft, substantial numbers have taken specific steps to help prevent it from happening to them. Three in five (60%) adults who have had their identity stolen(1) lost money as a result, and while a majority recovered their losses within 'Identity theft class given by NPPD (North Platte Telegraph) Identity Theft is an attractive crime for criminals because it is low risk and high return, according to North Platte Police Officer Troy Erickson. 'State Senate OKs bills to combat identity theft (The Buffalo News) ALBANY (AP) - The State Senate on Wednesday gave final legislative approval to three bills designed to combat identity theft. One bill would allow private companies, nonprofit groups and the state attorney general to bring civil actions against "phishing" scam artists.
