The Department of Veterans Affairs is urging veterans to learn more about consumer identity protections in the wake of the theft of personal information about 26.5 million veterans. 'About 2.2 million soldiers at risk for identity theft (ABC 7 Chicago) Nearly all active-duty military, Guard and Reserve members -- about 2.2 million total -- may be at risk for Identity Theft because their personal information was among those stolen from a Veterans Affairs employee last month. 'More military members at risk for identity theft (WTHR Indianapolis) There is a big change in the number of active duty military members at risk for identity theft. Veterans Affairs reported 26 million veterans had personal data stolen last month, but are now saying the agency was wrong. '2 credit union customers report identity theft scams (Ann Arbor News) Ann Arbor police received two reports Tuesday from local residents who said they fell victim to Identity Theft scams after personal data was stolen from the University of Michigan Credit Union this spring.
