CALGARY - Identity Theft is making Canadian consumers more cautious but many say they're still not well enough informed to protect themselves from this crime, says a national survey. 'Sheriff warns of new identity theft tricks (Paris News) A new twist on an old Identity Theft trick has infiltrated Lamar County. The phone rings and the person on the other end of the line says they need financial information to verify an account. But once they get the personal information, they use it to steal an identity and potentially ruin credit. 'PCCD Promotes New Identity Theft Web Site (SYS-CON Media) The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency is reminding consumers about a new resource to help them fight back against identity theft: http://www.identitytheftactionplan.com/, an innovative Web site designed to help citizens prevent, detect and respond to America's fastest-growing crime. 'Identity theft fraudster guilty (BBC News) A member of an Identity Theft gang that defrauded account holders out of millions of pounds is found guilty.
